Last minute squad changes unsettled the FAL team and saw a shaky start to the game. Eskvale were able to create chances but the defence held strong, successfully defending a succession of short corners before the ball broke loose in the D and, despite a diving save from Louise, the ball trickled over the line. 1-0 Eskvale.
The 2nd quarter saw more of the same. Lots of Eskvale attacking play thwarted by the FAL defence. We were able to get a few breaks of our own and won a short corner which was well saved Eskvale’s post player.
The third quarter was the FALs most positive of the game. We held our shape and managed to get the ball moving more and got some good opportunities, including a couple short corners. However, Eskvale capitalised on a lapse of concentration from FAL towards the end of the quarter to go 2-0 up.
We kept pushing the final quarter to get something from the game and despite wining a couple of short corners, we were unable to find a way past the Eskvale keeper.
