Ladies Development vs Carnegie 4

The Ladies Development team finally had their second game off the season against Carnegie in a very even game that saw brilliant performances across the squad.

FAL started the game on the front foot, maintaining a good structure and managing to get some outstanding breakaways. Goals were hard to come by though until Darcey managed to pick up the ball on the right wing and, with a good bit of skill, beat her marker and charge towards the D. She played the ball cleverly to the back post around the on-rushing keeper for Vicky to finish off with 10 seconds left in the first quarter. 1-0 FAL.

The second quarter saw Carnegie grow into the game a bit more and FAL required some heroic tackles from Tegan, Rosie, Evie, and Karin. FAL managed to weather the storm of the Carnegie attackers and went into half-time a goal to the good.

The third quarter started with FAL trying to take hold of the game. Defenders stepping up to apply pressure and some brilliant tenacity in midfield from Evie, Viktoria and Lauren saw some good counter-attacking opportunities fall FAL’s way, but sadly no positive outcomes came our way. The increased pressure from FAL meant that spaces began to form in behind the defence. Carnegie capitalised on this with 5 minutes remaining in the 3^rd quarter scoring past Louise who could do nothing more to keep in out of the net. 1-1.

Carnegie tried to keep their momentum going in the final quarter with FAL trying to hit on the counter. The best opportunities fell the way of FAL but the final pass seemed to elude us on this occasion.

Very happy coach today and the whole squad played fantastically well.
