FAL Mens Devs opened the East League season with a trip to ESM in unseasonly warm weather.
FAL opened the scoring in the first quarter when ALFIE KAY turned and smashed home a strike from the edge of the D, and came close to adding a 2nd from Arthur Roberson at a PC.
ESM dominated possession in the first half, and only a series of saves from Paul Geoghegan kept the visitors ahead at HT.
The second half followed a similar pattern, with the youthful ESM side stretching the FAL defence, and the visitors limited to a handful of chances, like a Michael Watson PC that was deflected wide by the ESM postman.
ESM eventually made the breakthrough in the last 1/4 as FAL tired, and a quick counter created an overload in the visitors defence. Despite a great save from Paul to stop the first effort, the rebound was battered home with a solid reverse hit.
Whilst FAL were disappointed to lose a late goal, the hosts will be wondering how they didn't convert their possesion into more goals.
